This month we turned our eyes to the art of portraiture at the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2019 at The National Portrait Gallery.
The international prize welcomes entries from anyone around the world. It gathers a range of amateur photographers alongside established professionals, resulting in an eclectic and unique mix of 57 pieces.
Some moving, some comical, some confronting; each portrait presents a unique story which the photographers explore beautifully. Many are challenging the medium, making us question ‘What makes a portrait a portrait?’.
